Corundum mullite brick is a high-alumina refractory product composed primarily of corundum and mullite crystal phases. The material's high-temperature performance can be affected by low melting point oxide impurities. Pure mullite raw material synthesized from industrial alumina powder and pure clay, bauxite, or silica should maintain minimal alkali metal oxide content.

Products using mullite aggregate offer excellent thermal shock resistance with slightly reduced corrosion resistance, while those made from corundum sand aggregate provide superior corrosion resistance with somewhat lower thermal shock resistance.
